Disease Description
Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) is the most common cardiac disease observed in cats. It is characterized by abnormal thickening of the muscular walls of the heart. As a result, the internal space of the heart becomes narrower, and the movement of the cardiac muscles becomes abnormal. This leads to an overall reduction in cardiac efficiency and can also cause functional impairments in other organs.
