Muscular Dystrophy, Duchenne type

Genetic Test

The DMD gene produces dystrophin, a large protein that connects the cytoskeleton to the extracellular matrix.

Disease Description

In some cases, it progresses rapidly and severely, resulting in a complete loss of ambulation, while in other cases, it may have a milder course that is difficult to distinguish from Becker muscular dystrophy.
