Vitamin D-deficiency rickets, type IB

Genetic Test

The CYP2R1 gene encodes an enzyme involved in converting vitamin D into its active form. A genetic variant can prevent vitamin D from being properly utilized in the body.

Disease Description

Even if vitamin D is present in the bloodstream, a genetic mutation can hinder the absorption of calcium through vitamin D, resulting in rickets, a disorder affecting bone development.
